Adobe Lightroom (full title Adobe Photoshop Lightroom) is an image manipulation (post-processing), organization (cataloguing your images), print (print single images, contact sheets etc), geo-tagging and book creation software (in conjunction with Blurb). It was released in 2007 and quickly became the tool of choice for photographers.

Photoshop vs Lightroom

Where Photoshop is king of single image processing, Lightroom is the king of the photoshoot. It allows really quick editing of an entire shoot worth of images, with a suite of intuitive photo manipulation tools at your fingertips. If you are a photographer, then Lightroom is the tool you need.
